The morning session was mostly about setting the B up and doing a few routines until a receiver pack wire fatigued and departed from the connector. I salvaged the vertical fin and main gear to fix the A, so flew that for the after lunch session. Considerably windier in the afternoon, didn't stay too long. I'm going to look for another airframe for the B as spares seem to be very expensive.
I'm loving the iCharger at the moment. Lots of information on that colour screen including cell/line IR's. Interesting stuff trying consolidate those figures with how the pack performs.

Flew the B as the A is out with the bad bearing. Had to change the Y lead, which turned out to be a bit on the short side and proceeded to unplug itself on the 4th flight. Auto'd it down a fair distance away and snapped the vertical fin.

Superb day at MK. Arrived early and got loads of FS and SM flights in before anyone arrived. Then had a decent afternoon of practicing bits and playing around. Finished with some fun/risky autos. Home for F1 and an adult beverage, another awesome day done.

Had a bit of a chinwag with Martin, Max, Neale and Ewan in the morning. The rain stopped for a bit and I got a few flights in before it came back and we packed up. Met Andrej later and we had a few flights at LMAC in the light drizzle.
I did have one weird thing happen with the VBC though. At one point it completely froze during switch on, with the Mikado logo showing. It wasn't responding to any inputs so I couldn't turn it off. I was about to open it up to disconnect the battery when I remembered the reset hole in the back. Pressed it with a bit of wire and it restarted fine. It all seems OK now and I didn't lose any information.

OWB failed on the A on the first spool-up. Took the B out, but it needed quite a bit of work to get it flying nicely.
It was too dark for sunglasses and the cold air was making my eyes water so I didn't stay long. It was probably a better evening for the foamies.
OWB has been replaced ready for tomorrow.

Gumley first thing until I realised I was supposed to meet Marc at Larcs. Had a BBQ for lunch and watched Matt put a few good flights in. It got busy after a while, which was nice to see, but not really my thing. Back to Gumly for a few cups of tea and a bit more flying.

Tried 6S on the B machine which actually turned out pretty good. 8 minute flights of gentle 3D at 1140 RPM, will definately try that again on a less windy day.
Had a cell go one one of the Zippys, so had to dispose of that pack. I got over 150 decent flights out of it though.
Felt very disconnected on the initial flights after 2 weeks of not flying, but got back into into after the slow flights.

Had a half-day, but the fog never lifted. Got a flight on A and also maidened the new B after a blades-off check on the ground.

Raining all day, so another setup session to get ready for the week. Reworked the head links on the A to get a purer setup. Double-checked everything on the B and made some changes to the tail links and setup. Updated all the settings from the NEOs into the spreadsheet. Also ordered some thrust bearings, dampers and turnbuckles from Align Trex.

Bugger! Was on the 5th pack during a lunchtime session with a fairly strong wind from behind, and I got the timing wrong and the wind just hammered it into the ground.
Defo the worst crash I've had on a 700. I've never had a frame go before and I've never seen a 700 mainshaft bent, and this has both plus all the usual stuff. Even my Opti 50 pack got a bit squashed. It basically needs everything, so it'll be cheaper to find another airframe.

Great day at MK. Left home in the dark and got back in the dark. The weather in the morning was perfect, crisp, blue skies and no wind. Everyone seemed in a really good mood and we got loads of flying and and shooting the breeze in. Dave lost his quad after doing a huge climb-out. I had my eye on it the whole time, and I didn't lose it. It simply got so small that it disappeared from sight. I flew Phil's quad LOS for one flight at the end of the day. Very weird with the lights on the front instead of the back. I tried FPV as well, but all I could see was sky and I crashed it after about 10 seconds.

The cold really wiped me out. Very sleepy on the way home, just poured the food in when I got back and fell asleep on the couch.

The forecast for the day looked amazing. I tried to get an invite to Parkhall MHC, but unfortunately Ross wasn't able to make it and wasn't sure anyone else would be there.

I decided to hit Larcs early and take it from there. The weather was perfect. Very light breeze, blue skies and not too cold. Got 21 flights all on my own before I went for lunch. Almost went to MK for the afternoon session, but decided it wasn't worth the drive with only 3 hours between opening time and sundown. Went back to Larcs and had more flying until some para-motors arrived. They were giving tandem flights so I just stayed out of the way until the sun went down.

Now at home and very pleased to find I did 34 flights, with a total of 3 hours actual flying time. What an awesome day!

Nice little session as it got darker. Totally forgot that the sun goes down early, so I didn't get as long as I was hoping. Lots of piro drills with reversals. Stayed an extra half hour in the gloom while the batteries charged for tomorrow.

I had a half day off work and the weather was perfect. Started flying at 9, got an hour in before anyone else arrived. Worked on sets early on, then switched to piro and rolling with reversals. Awesome session.

Rushed lunch due to a meeting. Quick couple of flights in the gloom and cold. The shield of the car works pretty well, I wonder if it's worth coming up with a wind breaker of some sort for places like MK.

Very cold on the hands, even with the mitt. Quite a few fixies around but mostly resigned to the clubhouse. Heli seemed very grabby in the air, must have been the wind, Glasses kept steaming up as well. Not a great session, but nice to be out. Also got an offer from T to put some new batteries through their paces, which will be interesting. Free packs are always good. 😀

Cold and windy, but sunny enough. Got there and Kev was rolling the grass. Worked on getting perfect rainbow arcs and some piro reversal stuff.
There's a big difference between the A and B, evn though they are practically the same and running NEOs. The cyclic on the B is far better, piro tic tocs seem far easier and less likely to wander. The servos also use far less energy so the Rx batt lasts almost twice as long.

With the terrible forecast, I wasn't expecting to get any flying in today. Got up and eventually realised the sun was out and there wasn't much wind.

Got in the car and drove to LARCS to find the farmer had changed the locks again. 😠 This happens every time I have a half decent opportunity so I'm not joining this club again!

On the way back I realised I might be able to sneak a couple of flights in at Clipston football club. Arrived, unpacked, waited for a dog walker to leave and tried to fly. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that I'd storage charged the batteries in lieu of yesterday's weather forecast. F!!!

Drove through the Gumley at which point I realised I was in danger of missing the promised breakfast with my wife, so I had to turn around.

Had breakfast with El, dropped her off at the stables and got 2 flights in at Gumley on the way home. Too windy to practice anything so I'm back at home and the forecast rain has just kicked in.

Couldn't decide whether or not to go to MK, but it was raining in the morning, so I stayed at home for a bit. Eventually the sun came out so I went to Gumley. Double-checked the mechanics and flew both machines. Pretty windy and cold. The keepers work really well. No more canopy clips being blown off the table and lost. Will buy a 2nd set for the B.

Thought I'd get a couple of flights in at Gumley as the sun went down, but some fixies had the same idea. Left after a few flights.

Played around with Integral in the governor settings to bring the overspeed under control. Worked pretty well on B, but not on A. I'll have to do the whole tweak procedure with A as well now. At least I'm learning.

Spent the morning going through the NEO tweaking guide on the B. Loads of steps and getting to know what it all means, but at the end it seems to fly the same and the governor seems worse. I'll do a side by side comparison with A this afternoon, but the club was getting a bit busy with fixies again.
I wish I had another club with electricity as I don't really want to run a genny for hours on end while I only fiddle with things. The wind has picked up a bit, so hopefully the fixies will go home and I can have another decent session.

Flew the A until it lost a bolt on the tail. Took B out for a couple of flights before it got too dark and I ran out of batteries.
Shared the flightline with someone get paramotor training. Had to keep an eye on what they were doing.

Flew A and managed to get some odd things to appear in the log, so I have something to ask Rainer about tonight. I managed to get the tail to give way twice and also get an ESC shutdown, no purple flashes this time though.
The B flew great, although it defo doesn't feel like A at all. I'll have to see if I can get all the settings off A and stick them on B.
Nice to be flying at lunchtime again 👍

Visited Simon's field and got to meet a few people. Alex was preparing for the 3D champs and it was fairly busy. Only one flying spot is a bit of a pain, so I didn't stay too long in the end. The A machine had another glitch and the VBar went into purple flash again, so I'll have to check the logs. The B is flying OK, but needs some tuning. Not a bad session.

Flew each heli and made sure they work before leaving for Simon's club. Met Pete trying out his new flying field. The A machine had one flight where I took off and it immediately shut down and the VBar had a purple flash. Resetting seemed to work.
