Arrived super early. My genny wouldn't start due to low oil, so I had a drive around looking for a garage.
Everything was going so well, really enjoying the day, loads of flights and talking rubbish. Eventually a reversing chaos got away from me. I had easily enough height to stop and regain control, but I thought I'd take the easy route and hit the rescue. Cue a tail slide into the ground. WTF?
The log doesn't show much, some raised vibration levels, Bailout Start, and me activating throttle hold after the hit.
Basically 2 crashes in 1 month due to me using rescue when I could have easily saved it normally. I think it gives a false sense of security, so I will be removing mine.
The damage isn't too bad, mostly to the tail, and there are the usual summer discounts on this weekend, so hopefully should be back by next weekend.

The forecast was for rain and it looked windy, so I went home after work. The weather turned out to be amazing but I missed it. I got some sim in anyway and had managed to get my head around a rolling globe double reversed. Pretty ugly, but the basics are there.

Started getting busy at LMAC so went off to LARCS. Didn't expect anyone to be there, but found Glenn, Jack, Matt and Richard. Had a couple of nice flights with the wind from the right. Would have stayed longer but the genny ran out of fuel.

Early start at 7 and the conditions were perfect. No wind, slightly chilly, no bugs and blue skies. Got a few flights in and then watched a lot of the others flying.

A bit grey, but not too hot and no wind at all. Shared the flight-line with Andy and his mate.
Did some rolling globes with left and right aileron, really happy about that. Also did a double reversed rolling globe. It'll probably suck in a bit more wind, but I'm getting a pretty good grasp on it. Heavy on the packs though.

The usual Wednesday crowd out. Fairly windy so I flew as much as I wanted.

OWB gave up the ghost for good on the first flight, so I fitted Stephen's and it was great. I've ordered another hub as a spare, just in case.
Very wam and the ESC/motor were coming down piping hot. They weren't cooling down very quickly either, so I had to wait 10 minutes between flights not to blow anything.
Another brilliant session, loving the sun and the quiet.

Had the OWB slip a bit on the first flight, but then it seemed fine after that. I'm sure this happened before on previous first flights, but I never realised it was the OWB. Fortunately I have the spare one I got from Stephen, as nobody seems to have any in stock.
The heat was having an effect on the Castle 120. One flight with a bit of piro tictoc'ing and it came down with the overtemp warning going off. There's got to be a way of getting those warnings through telemetry, or maybe it's time for a 160.

Did some stuff at work and made it back to Gumley just as all the fixies were packing up.

Had an epic afternoon all on my own in the sun, blue skies and enough of a breeze to keep the bugs off.

Was getting busy at LMAC, so came over to LARCS to see if anything was going on. Completely empty and the forecast was for the sun to come out, so I unpacked everything and had an awesome session.
The grass was newly mowed, very quiet, surreal, almost felt like being on the sim.

Finished rebuilding the 700 this morning, did some work things and got out for an afternoon session. Far too windy, but it suited me as I was making sure everything still worked properly.

Wind dropped slightly, went out to get some practice. Started doing some really nice stuff. Eventually piro tictocs got away from me, so I let the sticks go and hit rescue. Apparently not in time. Heli made a decent hole in the ground. Ah well, time to take a break.

Nice day, just massively windy. Tried for a bit, but not worth it. Hopefully we'll get a few hours as the sun goes down later.

Went up to test the rescue and it works really well. I'd have to change the switch for a button, but other than that, it's very good at gaining height immediately.
The wind wasn't anywhere near as bad as the forecast said. I may go back after taking the wife for breakfast.

Lunch break flights. Forgot to choose a battery on 2 of the flights and so didn't get any warnings. I'll have to investigate a bit more and maybe ask Mikado to make a change. If there's no battery selected, and it's waiting in the battery selection screen, it shouldn't allow anything to run.

Very windy, but sunny enough to give it a go. The current sensor is working great so far, having flights between 4 and 7 minutes and the packs are coming down at around 18%.

Weakside piro tictoc circuits and rolling.

I've been trying to find out the max amps the Edge 120 will deliver, but I can't find anything saying it will do more than 120. I seem to peak at around 150/160 occasionally, but it's not complaining.

Just MikeW and myself at MK today. Ran my own genny and traded flights with him for 5 hours.

Finished calibrating all the packs and very happy with the current sensor. Allows for varying flight times instead of the lowest common denominator.
Longest flight 7:30 of F3C style hovering
Shortest flight 3:30 of rolling flips
Max draw 166 amps

Got a service warning on the car, so drove to all the way to MK in limp mode. Then my genny ran out of fuel after 4 batteries. Played sim and worked on my music waiting for committee members to arrive and start the club genny. Got tired of waiting, so packed the car and left, only to meet Mike on the way in. Turned around and actually had a fairly nice session. Too windy get get any decent practice in, but it was a nice group and I got to work on some orientation stuff.
The car sorted itself out on the way home, so it's probably the DPF needing a long drive.

Finally got the Current Sensor installed this evening, will try it out on Sunday.

Grey skies. Tested out the new set manoeuvres and most seem OK. The double O one is a horrible move, and it will be quite dependant on wind direction. I think I'm going to swap it for the Galaxy instead. Not the most technically challenging one, but weirdly quite a high K.
Sets take about 5:30 and packs come down with 20%.

Exactly 7 weeks until the next F3N comp and I'm taking this one a bit more seriously. Set Manoeuvres have all been changed to the highest K factor, although I can only manage 5 minutes flight time, so I've had to drop 2 of the longest ones and swap them for lower Ks.
L-R backwards rolling circle
R-L reversing rolling circle
L-R vertical tictoc 8
R-R Double O One
R-R reversing pirouetting globe
R-R double reversed pirouetting globe
R-L reversing piro funnel
C piro rainbow X
They all flow into each other so no flybys or wasted time. If I figure out a way of getting more flight time, I may change the low K rolling to something a bit longer and high scoring.

I'm still looking for new music, as the old one was a bit short. My inability to mix anything is making things difficult, so I'm resorting so searching YT for something premixed.

Arrived just after 8 and got loads of flying done with blue skies. It was 2 hours before anyone else turned up. Started raining around 12 and I almost left. Ended up getting a few flights between showers until it cleared. As I was leaving for the 2nd time, Duncan arrived, so I stayed and watched a few of his F3N flights. Now home and too tired to do anything. Might be an early night tonight.

Windy, but a nice session. Did my first piro globe double reversed, also worked on breaking flights up into lots of different things. The new HS defo helps with the wind, it all went really well.

Blue skies, windy and a bit cold. Wanted to play with a few settings after having witnessed the way the professionals do it at Weston Park, but I didn't stay too long in the end.
Moved the HS from 1980 up to 2100, but hard to tell if there was any real difference in the wind. Gradually reduced it down to 2000 and left it there. Also turned up the piro and cyclic rates.

With the sky being grey and a fair amount of wind, I wasn't expecting anyone there, but there were quite a few fixies. They were nice enough to take lunch while I got the regular flights in. Lots of low down stuff, makes a nice change to being a few mistakes high.

Windy from the other direction. Practised keeping it lower with rolls, piro tictocs, etc.

The dual charger isn't keeping up, making me wait a few minutes between flights so I'm back home to finish the other charger. That should give me 3 high power ports capable of changing the big flight packs at 2C and a 4th port for the Rx battery.

Update: OK, finished the charge case. Had to flip the fans so the air goes in the same direction as the PSU fans, but otherwise an easy job. Charging 2 flight packs at 2C, drawing 46 amps at 24 volts, which is 1,100 watts. Nice!

Just some gentle 3D as the sun was going down. Alternating flights with Dan and Howard, and I even stayed for some fish and chips. Nice to be flying again.

Arrived at Zone around 8:30 with Connor. I managed to reach 801 flights before the end of the month, but then I stripped the main gear which killed my flying for the rest of the weekend. No-one had a spare gear, and I couldn't get a replacement from Align-trex, so I was pretty stuffed. The flying was amazing though. Best night flying I've ever seen too.

Another great summer's evening of flying. Almost reached 800 flights so far this year, but the session was curtailed by a certain wife. Just a few flights this weekend and I should safely make it before the end of the month.
Leaving to watch Zone tomorrow morning with Connor.
