Return to Sessions
(8-12 mph) Gentle breeze
My first session at this club in over two years maybe, doesn't seem that long ago though.
I also had three flights on my CAP 232 today which was fun too.
Overall a very nice day out and some okay flying from me, but too basic really, and not feeling very confident for most of the session. Need to get out more and practice more.
During my last flight my dad shouted out that I had to stand behind the new fence LOL. Strange because I thought I'd been standing near to the far edge of the mowed grass 'D' (situated in front of this new fence) previously, but perhaps not, my memory fails me :)
Anyway about this new fence and the rule that comes with it, which I've been told came into play a few months ago. It's about waist height and runs along the flight line. The old tall netted fence behind the pilots is still there of course to protect everything behind the pilots, but this new short fence is supposed to protect the pilots toes and ankles from being chopped in the unfortunate event that somebody taxis their plane towards the flight line and fails to stop. There might be other reasons too, but I'm not sure yet.
I was quite surprised to find myself distracted by this new short fence, although I'm sure I'll get used to it after a few more flights. I think it was simply my peripheral vision that wasn't used to seeing a boundary immediately in front of me, which if I wasn't so short (5' 5") would have been less noticeable.
The weather was really nice with the wind a little strong at first but dying down later, especially during the last 1/3 of the session.
