Return to Sessions
(8-12 mph) Gentle breeze
I really felt like I was getting back into it today after my recent year and a bit without flying.
Shockingly after sliding a Turnigy battery into my Logo and tightening the strap it burst into smoking, but luckily it didn't actually go up in flames. I managed to pull it out (it wasn't plugged in to the ESC, so the lead was just dangling out the front) and toss it across the grass so no damage was done to the heli. It was a slightly tight fit sliding the battery in (no puffing though as this was a new pack having only flown 1 to 2 flights, but the plastic frame needs a gentle sand just to make it slide in a little looser), but I don't believe that was the reason, and I'm still extremely surprised that it happened. In the moment it was absolutely shocking, so a very lucky result to have no damage.
I tried flying a few different moves today including several attempts an pirouetting loops, a few of which were starting to form not actually that bad, but as usual a few heart wobbling moments throughout todays flying for me, but you've got to push I suppose if you want to give yourself a chance at getting better.
Richard was very good about 1 1/2 years ago around the time he started to fly his 700 size helis, but now after seeing him fly today it's obvious that he's progressed to being...... not trying to make his head swell any bigger...... but it's simply correct to say a brilliant pilot.
I'm looking forward to next time and what a great day indeed.

In my opinion Rich is one of the best technical flyers in the country.
