We are a small, friendly, informal, model flying club situated just outside Market Harborough.

The origin of the Leicester Area Radio Control Society (LARCS) goes back to the 1950s when the late Geoff Franklyn and several modelling enthusiasts formed a group that initially used a number of local WW2 airfields. In 1962, they decided to form an official club and settled in our present location.

Because of proposed land development, in 2002 the club moved just a few hundred yards to a new, much larger field. We now have a mown area of just under 3 acres which makes our site quite special.

Started at Gumley but it was always going to get busy with the decent forecast. Went to Larcs and had a few flights with Malcolm, etc. Then back to Gumley for lunch and an empty flightline. Not a bad day, just very cold once the wind picked up.

Blue skies and light wind, but I just wasn't getting a connection to the heli. It seemed to be all over the place, which is so weird after a weekend of wind and coping easily.

3 Flights at Larcs, but it was pretty cold and windy so I moved on to Gumley. I was enjoying it, the wind was keeping the fixies off the flightline and then the motor started flaming. I think it was shorting on the frame through some worn heatshrink. I think the motor is stuffed, hopefully the ESC is OK.

Update: Had a spare motor I needed to change the bullets on, but that's now in and I got 3 test flights before the sun went down. I'm not sure if the wearing of the heatshrink had anything to do with the burnout, but apparently these motors have a lifetime warranty from Align, so I'm going to see if they'll replace it.

A lonely morning on my own at Larcs, but after a while I got into it and started enjoying flying again. Went home for lunch and then on to MK to fly with the Mikes and Daves.

We did a bit of flying and talking bollocks until the sun went down. MikeW crashed both his Goblins, AGAIN! MikeS had a mishap with his 700 but nothing serious. A good day of flying.

A few hours in the sun at Larcs before going to MK. Good laughs there with the Dave's and Mike, listening to David's stories about his punk days. Got training on the mower from Mike and did the flightline with Dave.
