Traditionally an all airplane club, MCRCC began to see heli pilots beginning around 2007 when me and my son made the switch to the dark side! The club is very accepting of all forms of Radio Control modeling. I have been with this club since 2005 and have never seen nor heard of any issues between any of the different types of modelers.
The club is a small club in number but has a HUGE field to fly and a nice mat runway. The covered pits have 8 tables that are large enough for two members to occupy at one time. The only downside to the club is it is located on city property (old landfill) and sits next to a petroleum refinery. Due to this fact the entry gate must remain locked at all times. The gate is approx 600 yards from the field and this policy makes it difficult for visitors to get out to the field. Which in turn makes growing the hobby in our area a little more difficult. We have coyotes, bobcats, alligators, wild pigs and water moccasins in the marshy areas surrounding the field. So if you choose to fly over the cane and go down for any reason, your aircraft is most likely lost. Even without the wildlife, the cane is 10 to 12 feet tall and mostly impassable so finding a downed model is a stretch at best.
